Black-Haired vs. White-Haired Inuyasha (Half-Beast And Half-Human)

Black-Haired vs. White-Haired Inuyasha (Half-Beast And Half-Human)

There’s a well-known television show based on a fictional character named Inuyasha. He is half-beast and half-human. It is because his father was a dog demon and his mother was a noblewoman.

Therefore, he is a half-demon child of Izayoi, a human woman, and the Toga, a powerful demon father. Due to his dual nature, Inuyasha’s hair color can also change dramatically.

His likeness to his father is the cause of his white hair. The same is valid for hair that is blackish-red, which he inherited from his mother. They begin to manifest once per month as Inuyasha transforms into a human.

Besides his interactions with his mother, Inuyasha’s youth was entirely alone.

This article tackles two different questions; one is the difference between black-haired and white-haired Inuyasha. Second, the reason behind Inuyasha’s half-dog and half-human qualities.

Who is Inuyasha?

Inuyasha is a fictional Japanese character in the manga series “Inuyasha.” He belongs to the Sengoku period in Japan.

Rumiko Takashi, the author of this series, has a story in her mind. She highlights the character of Inuyasha as being a half-demon, half-human. Inuyasha’s name derives from the fact that he is half dog and half Yasha.

Moreover, Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon, the sequel to the anime-only original, also features Inuyasha. His appearance combines his canine demon father and a human mother.

The significant ideas that Rumiko had when she began these series were to seal the Inuyasha by Kikyo and his sword and that his sword was a relic from his father.

Everything that came after that was a weekly flow of ideas and a storyline. Rumiko Takahashi claimed in interviews that the “priest’s dress” of the Sengoku era inspired the costume of Inuyasha.

Although the author did not know what would happen to Inuyasha and Kagome’s on-again, off-again love, she did intend for it to resolve in June 2001.

A mixture of a human and a canine yokai, Inuyasha first appears in the feudal world bound to a tree. Inuyasha persuades Kagome Higurashi, who is being pursued by a youkai, to release him so that he can defeat the foe.

Inuyasha joins forces with Kagome to look for the Shikon Jewel shards, which boost a youkai‘s abilities, despite his initial mistrust of her.

Although Inuyasha initially intends to use the jewel to transform into a full demon. However, as the plot develops, he forms close relationships with the allies who help him.

He is a half-human, half-demon, with some supernatural powers that he utilizes during any fight. These act as his strengths to defeat the enemy.

Supernatural Physical Abilities

Inuyasha is a half-breed known as a hanya. But, he has a strong demon heritage passed down from his father, giving him supernatural physical abilities and resilience.

He has raw strength, speed, and reflexes far superior to those of lower- or even higher-level youkai.

He can take on even the strongest higher-level youkai with his physical prowess, willpower, and swordsmanship. Like yokai, he has yokai-like toughness and regeneration powers that enable him to bear great agony.

Moreover, they allow him to heal from injuries swiftly and live for hundreds of years.

Black-Haired Inuyasha

  • Inuyasha has black hair in the 13th episode of “The Mystery of New Moon.” It debuted on January 29, 2001, in Japan.
  • Inuyasha has black hair when he transforms into his human form. He lacks fangs, has blunt nails instead of his regular dog ears, and has dark eyes. He shares the same physical characteristics as a healthy human male.
  • Tessaiga won’t transform while in this state. Inuyasha only takes this on new moons. The blackish color appears when he turns out to be human once a month. He has taken some qualities of his mother.
  •  So, when he transforms into a fully-blooded human during a new moon night, it is how the idea for the black hair comes about. It happens with all half-devils.

White-Haired Inuyasha

  • Inuyasha has white hair in his default form. He possesses sharp claws (nails) instead of human ears, golden eyes, and dog ears. His physique resembles a dog demon, yet slightly less powerful.
  • He moves faster and has a greater sense of smell. He is also physically stronger and can use his claws to launch demon assaults (nails). Tessaiga is capable of changing while in this state.
  • He has this default appearance because of his father.

How Is Inuyasha Half-Beast And Half-Human?

Yokai has the power to transform
Yokai has the power to transform

Many yokai have the power to transform into species other than humans. They can have fang nails, long hair, unique hair color, bodily marks like makeup, and weird clothing. All these things make them pretty different from human beings. Some of them interbred with humans.

Each new moon causes Inuyasha to lose his strength. At that point, he is essentially entirely human. His yokai genes provide him with power the rest of the time.

He is so powerful that he can uproot a large tree and fling it like a weed. In this manner, he eliminated a wolf yokai that could barf wolves. Additionally, he has yokai energy that he can channel through his claws to make them capable of piercing most objects.

He does this by hitting his arm with his nails and throwing them in the opponent’s direction. He can throw it through his blood, creating blades that can pierce most objects, creating a projectile that he can fire at them.

Why and When Inuyasha Changes into Demonic Form?

When Inuyasha is in danger and not communicating with tessaiga, he only transforms into this form. He resembles his white-haired form but has two jagged blue/indigo marks across his cheeks, and his eyes are crimson.

In this guise, Inuyasha loses his moral composure and descends into a rage of bloodlust, attacking everyone and everything. Additionally, it appears that he is painless.

When he has built a link to Tessaiga, Inuyasha will transform into his white-haired form.

The Difference Between Black and White-Haired Inuyasha

In the story, Inuyasha’s hair color changes due to his transformation from a human to a demon and vice versa. There are some discrepancies between them. I’m jotting down those differences in the table below.

ReasonThe reason for his white hair is his father’s resemblance to him. His father is a dog demon feudal lord. He has golden eyes, canine ears, and sharp claws (nails) in place of human ears. His build is similar to a dog demon’s; however a little weaker. The same goes for blackish hair color. It starts appearing when Inuyasha turns into a human on the new moon once a month. It happens because her mother was a complete human being.
Power ChangesInuyasha regains his powers the following morning after losing his powers at daybreak, and his hair turns white.Every two weeks, for a day, Inuyasha loses his demonic abilities and turns back into an average person. It is the time when he is most at risk.

Can Inuyasha Control his Demon Form?

When Inuyasha had a battle with Ryokutsusei during the transformation, he stopped himself from fighting with him. Moreover, he picked up his sword through his willpower or sheer force.

It shows that he learned to control his demonic nature giving him the strength to use his sword again.

History of the Birth of Inuyasha

Izayoi, a human noblewoman, and Toga, the dog demon she loved, had Inuyasha as their first child. Izayoi’s guardsman, Takemaru, speared her on the memorable night of the lunar eclipse for the birth of Inuyasha because he was enraged at her association with a demon.

Before succumbing to her fatal wounds, Izayoi had barely enough energy to give birth to Inuyasha, but she was shortly revived by Toga’s sword of healing, the Tenseiga. Besides his interactions with his mother, Inuyasha’s youth was entirely alone.

Inuyasha was not accepted by either humans or youkai because he was a hanyauu. The other youngsters would always refer to him as a “half-breed.” Except for his mother, everyone despised him, so he was devastated when she passed away when he was still a child.

Who is the Strongest Demon in Inuyasha?

Even when measured against his two superhuman kids, Inuyasha and Sesshomaru, the Fighting Fang remains the strongest “inu daiyokai” to have ever existed. The demonic strength of Toga is still unparalleled.

Conclusion

  • Inuyasha is a famous fictional series named after its main character. He is the result of the union of the Toga, a strong demon father, and Izayoi, a human mother.
  • Inuyasha’s dual nature causes his hair color to change significantly as well.
  • Inuyasha’s childhood consisted only of his relationships with his mother and no other people.
  • The first topic this essay has covered is the distinction between Inuyasha and black and white hair. Second, the explanation for Inuyasha’s characteristics as a half-dog, half-human being.
